Women's Silver Sterling Crescent Moon Necklace

The Sterling Silver Crescent Moon Necklace by Ark Jewellery by Kristina Smith. The pendant is inspired by nature; the Crescent Moon. In this collection I explore the relationship between women and nature, the moon has a significant role in influencing womens lives. I created the silver leaf collection using the technique called casting. This is the process by which a wax pattern is made into a jewellery mould and then filled with silver grains to create a custom piece of jewellery. It is also called lost wax casting because the wax is always lost during the process of making jewellery. The chain is a 16"/41 cm, 18"/46 cm or 20/50 cm length silver trace. The pendant measures c 2. 5 cm across and it is satin polished to bring out the texture and shape of this beautiful and mysterious crescent moon.
