Elope with me
As my next flight to New York draws near (a few weeks surely constitutes nearness), and as I did last time, I look back on my previous trip to the big city and reflect on how freaking lucky I am to be in love with the place and be able to work with such wonderful people who can show me around the nooks and crannies I would never have thought to go. I've been meaning to share this little video I shot with one of my favourite labels, Foley + Corinna, and NYC homegirl Holly, one sunny day during Fashion Week last September, but somehow technological misadventures have gotten the better of me and I'm only just unleashing this little handbag adventure to the world now.
There's something charming about the combination of Bryant Park and midday sun, in a cutaway scene of a 90s city love story kind of way. As much as we laughed at the novelty of a carousel, I secretly fantasised à la Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012, and wondered if the horses would look anywhere close to pastel shades if I overexposed them quite enough. Meanwhile, a kid fell over and grazed her knee, and onlookers watched with their iced teas and sun hats as her brother picked her up and offered her his ice-cream instead.
I can't imagine why anyone would have ever wanted to stick a tent on that place for Fashion Week.
I'm looking forward to going back to the New York Public Library again too - and perhaps shooting there a little. How beautiful can one building be? I thought my Uni grounds looked like Hogwarts. This is Hogwarts (indeed I expected the staircases to move, and froze on several occasions to confirm this - most passersby found this more off-putting than my python onesie).
Apologies that I've been off the radar of late (i.e. for a week, which is probably an all time record on this blog) - Summer School is fairly unforgiving and I find myself whittling away the wee hours of the morning with my carefully printed notes accumulating more and more creases, thumb marks, and accidental cartoon scribbles.
