A few quick snaps after a sleepily hilarious breakfast with Zanita one morning at Sri Panwa’s Pool Club, followed by a jungle dance and a luxuriously long day shooting. The beauty of this island living is that there could be awe-inspiringly torrential rain for the hour before you decide to kick off your shoes, then just like that, the sun burns it all off but a misty residue chasing you around a turquoise pool and a grey-blue see in the distance. Give it another fifteen minutes, and the butterflies are back out to serenade the honeymooners and their mid-morning cocktails as they wonder why the girl with the bright blue bikini peeking out of a top-half of flowers is doing a dance along the deckchairs (and whether it was ok that they could see my turquoise bikini bottoms through my shorts – I vote yes).
But let’s talk about those flowers and these shorts. Macgraw has quickly become my favourite Australian label to watch for 2013, and there is no doubt that this double-layered peek-a-boo of blooms will be on high rotation this Summer. It’s difficult for a high-neckline to be Summer-compatible, but the combination of a bellybutton crop and sleeveless chop must be doing it some favours, because I think I’m in love. I have the matching skirt too, so you can be sure I’ll be busting that creature out with a badass leather jacket!
As to these shorts, I’m making KEM issara a mandatory check-it-now. Thanks to some reader introductions and some fantastic star alignment of luck and pure awesome, Kem’s stunning design work came into our lives. I cannot even begin to tell you how enamoured I am with her new collection – this sweet Thai designer has some big things coming! I’m hoping she’ll be stocked all over the Internets some time soon so I can show you exactly what I mean. But in the mean time, you should just take my word for it, because really – who can resist a checkerboard mish-mash of mesh and pleated silk in a pair of shorts masquerading as a skirt? The matching mesh top boasts just as much utility. I’m sold.
Meanwhile, I’m really glad you all enjoyed my upbeat night time Phuket photo diary! Some day light business coming soon – you won’t even know what hit you.
Live long and prosper.
