Warm fuzzies on a Monday morning are hard to come by. Early hours would usually involve fumbling around the house looking for my phone and a variety of chargers, then a frowning sprint to the train station, followed by a late and breathless entrance to my first Law seminar for the week.

I started this morning with the same post-weekend dissatisfaction. Why is it Monday? Why am I so tired? Realising that it was actually STUVAC miraculously gave a new lease of life to what could probably pass as a pyjama tee – a leather skirt, a perfect pair of film noir suede frames, a Parisian sparkle, and my favourite bag of the moment (it fits all my chargers and a bottle of water). Marketing Strategy & Planning, come at me.

Exam survival jokes aside, it’s funny what a little sparkle, leather and hardware can do for a get-up and a day. I’ll put $10 – hell, $100 – on the guess that you wouldn’t have seen these earrings as daytime appropriate, and even less so with the exaggerated angles and elegant gold lines of these Miu Miu babies. If you’re stepping out in Amukaji sequins, then certainly – you should probably go back to being nocturnal. But paired with any easy jersey or knitwear, a bit of matte leather if you’re feeling dramatic, and the odd metallic accent throughout, nobody will so much as bat an eyelid.

Next time an overcast day rolls around, I’m going to try this with my crazy leather pants and see how that works out. Thoughts?

Now… heels on. Books out.
