Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of soaking up the setting sun from the third level of the Standard Hotel here in New York City for Erin Fetherston‘s beautiful Spring/Summer 2013 presentation before the models went inside for the full show. I always forget how much I love the buzz of backstage – talking to the hair and make up artists, the models, the majorly stressed out PRs… Erin’s backstage was a sweet and positive bubble before first looks were shown to the world. I adored MAC’s inky eyeliner that they “didn’t want to be too immediately recognisable as a cat-eye flick or a straight line would be”, and the result was such a fresh and ‘very Erin’ youthfulness. Oh for one’s skin to be so radiant.
The Butter London metallic nails were, aside from the cute zippered headbands, the only other ‘accessory’ to complement Erin’s sweet pastel shades, subtle prints and mix of textures. I have so much respect for a designer who is their brand – Erin is one of those who I’ve admired from the beginning for the strength in her label’s image and how her personal style translates to a very wearable, but easily editorial, collection from season to season – if you can spot her in my video, you’ll see what I mean!
