When the weather can’t make up its mind, the best solution is to layer up and shed them all throughout the day. In this instance, it was an explosion of every interesting texture I could find in the dark of a late Winter morning, and what turned out to be a whole lot of brushed metal buttons – which was just as well, because otherwise, there would have been no unifying factor between the three top-half pieces at all, and the day would have just progressed completely awkwardly. Liquid eyeliner and back-braided updos in the guise of messy everyday hair also help in diffusing unwanted confrontations about what the hell I’m wearing.

It’s more functional than you’d think, grasshopper.

While snapping these before heading off to class, I did have a giggle about how much this pseudo-military creation reminded me of Beyoncé dancing around in a whole lot of headgear and no pants. Then I giggled some more because I was, in fact, wearing pants and not one girl in that video clip. And then a morning commuter walked past my tripod setup and me chuckling to myself.

Maybe I’m just inherently awkward.
