This morning I had the absolute pleasure of heading in to Daniella Kallmeyer's space to take a look at the stunning pieces she has lined up for her show/presentation during Fashion Week here in New York, and to have a chat about how it came to be hanging beautifully on this rack. And I can honestly say that Daniella is one of the most intelligent and laterally-thinking designer I have ever met. I won't go into too much detail (I don't want to take away from her show/presentation-to-be), but the idea that clothes should be worn as the wearer perceives them is something that designers and stylists inevitably forget. It's almost as if they pay their PRs to force their collection on buyers. Daniella's new collection is exactly the opposite - of course, I was blown away by so many of the structures, the inspirations, and the mere fact that the entire collection evolved out of one holographic textile. But at the same time, every piece holds its own in their structure (Daniella's signature inverted lapels are quite something). The hood that Daniella's wearing is from her last Fall/Winter collection and looks so ridiculously warm. I was a bit jealous - particularly when I walked outside afterwards and promptly lost feeling in my ears. If (when) I move here, I'll be needing one for each day of the week ;) Anyway - make sure you check out Ms Kallmeyer's past work right here - and have a wishlist ready to be extended ten-fold. *love* xx
